Four of us from Stevenage Plus attended the Spring Break weekend organised by our very own member Ben and Adrian from Didcot held at Hoburne Holiday Park, Christchurch, Dorset. We shared a caravan with two other friends from previous narrowboating expeditions, which was A1 by name and A1 by nature - the highest grade on the park (thank you Ben!). There were good facilities on site as well as excellent access to Avon beach, Mudeford quay and Christchurch town and a short drive to Bournemouth, Poole, Hengistbury Head, Lymington and the New Forest National Park.
Within a few hours of arriving, the house party at ours was well underway, with members reuniting from all over the UK and free flowing wine, literally on tap. Further parties continued throughout the weekend, well into the early hours of the morning and even through a couple of power cuts!
The days were spent exploring the beautiful local area, independently or as part of the organised Treasure Hunt. While I was off photographing everything in sight, Erik and Liz won with 100%, jointly sharing the prize with our other housemates' team. Their winning streak continued the following day, coming 3rd in the quiz and receiving a prize of Easter eggs.
The evening entertainment was as you would expect typical holiday park entertainment to be, which is always guaranteed to be a really good laugh, sometimes for the wrong reasons but mainly for the good. The last night bought everyone together, all of the clubs sitting on one communal table, singing and dancing along to support our karaoke friends, proving what a fantastic weekend it had been.
Thank you to all those involved in organising a brilliant weekend and to everyone who made it fun.
Date for your diary: The next Spring Break is confirmed at the same location, 22nd - 25th March 2019. Deposits of £25 per person are now being taken, made payable to Stevenage Plus. Please contact Ben for more information.
We've got a cracking programme coming up over the next few months. There are still dates available in May to July if you would like to host an event on a Thursday or Saturday. We welcome all ideas and even if you don't fancy hosting but you have a game, quiz or event you can recommend, we'd love to hear from you.
The BI-AGM on the 10th May is your chance to have your say and hear about how the club is run. We review the last six months and look ahead for the next six months, agreeing the budget and electing the committee. Please contact Helen or Erik if you would like to add anything to the agenda or discuss any of the roles, if you are interested in being nominated.
The annual STEP Awards will take place on the 5th July. If you have any ideas for category themes, please let Erik know by the end of April.
We welcome your views on whether we should organise a Christmas and/or New Years' Party this year and if so, where and when.
Can you believe Stevenage Plus is 40 next January?? Some of our members have been a part of the club for a lot of that time and we are looking to plan some celebrations early next year. Please let Helen know if you have any ideas. We are contacting some ex members for some nostalgic stories and are hoping to attract some media attention.
Stevenage Plus sometimes organise other events in addition to Thursday and Saturday evenings, where friends from other Plus clubs are welcome to attend.
If you are interested in Westmill Farm Activity day, please express your interest to Salima asap.
There are a number of local festivals and outdoor concerts running through the summer. If this is your thing, let us know and we may be able to get a small group together.
Meet members from other Plus clubs and join in some national events such as:

Photo of gold bauble ornament background | Free christmas ... Without sounding too much like the Queen's Speech, I'm sure all of you have experienced some challenging times this year, trying to cope with whatever life has thrown your way. I really hope you have had some very special, and many enjoyable moments, and that the good has far outweighed any bad!
For many of us, the festive period can be a particularly pressurising time of year, physically, emotionally and/or financially. I hope you find happiness in a way that best suits you, whether that's enjoying some well-deserved 'me time' or quality time with the people you care about.
On behalf of the committee, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and good health and wellbeing for the year ahead. A new year brings new beginnings, so I hope 2018 is everything you want it to be and more.
Very best wishes,
The ethos of Stevenage Plus is friendly, inclusive and fun and we hope that you have had some good times at our events this year. A massive thank you to all that have made this happen including the committee and of course, you, the membership who have positively participated and hosted the activities.

Come and see us on Thursday at the Holiday Inn Express in Stevenage Town Centre, with the evening starting at 8.30pm, and finishing around 10pm, although you are welcome to stay afterwards for drinks.
As you come in through the front door, turn immediate left to get to the room. There is a nice bar with comfy seating which sells reasonably priced drinks. Please see the map below if you need directions. Also, please note there is a separate hotel nearby called the Holiday Inn - don't go there. We are in the Holiday Inn Express!
